This listing includes events and happening on Watchic Lake. Many other regional events can found at the Maine Today calendar site. Some events are WLA sponsored, and others appear for the benefit of Watchic Lake users.

2017 Events

  • 7/15/2017. Watchic Lake Association Annual Meeting, Saturday July 15 at 6:30 pm at the Standish Municipal Center (Town Hall).The evening will begin with a chance to socialize over a selection of homemade desserts followed by the business meeting at 7:00 pm.
  • 7/11/2017. Maine VLMP Invasive Plant Patrol and Certification to be held at Standish Town Hall. A six hour classroom experience prepares attendees for conducting or leading invasive aquatic plant screening surveys and satisfies the quality assurance requirement for IPP certification. Open to all lakes.   • 6/22/2017  to 6/24/2017. Standish Summer Spectacular 2017, Save the date info from the Town of Standish here. Fireworks to be held at Standish Memorial Park. Not WLA sponsored.
  • June 17, 2017. Murder and Mystery on Watchic Lake. An interactive dinner event designed to engage guests, and encourage socializing among the Watchic Lake Community.   • 5/19/2017 to 5/21/2017. American Powerboat Association Races. Off Kiwanis Beach. Friday test runs. Saturday 12:00 – 5:0o pm. Sunday 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. Contact 978 692 5224. Not WLA sponsored.
  • 5/6/2017 to 5/7/2017. PropSnapper RC airplane “Spring Fly Float event at Kiwanis Beach. Held jointly with Propsnappers of Portland ME. Not WLA sponsored.

2016 Events

  • 8/28/2016: Kiwanis and the Watchic Lake Ski Club Ski Tournament and ski clinic. 8:00 am onward. Rick Green is organizing the event and for more info can be contacted at 207-887-3612 or Rick@DGMACHINE.COM or watchiclakeskiclub@gmail.com. The event organizers are committed to managing the event to minimize disruption on the lake and benefit those on Watchic Lake interested in water skiing. Not WLA sponsored.
  • 7/9/2015: Watchic Lake Association Annual Meeting, Saturday July 9, 2016 starting at 4:00 pm  at the Congregational Church in Standish. The meeting will begin with a silent auction and raffle, followed by dinner and then WLA annual business meeting. WLA sponsored.
  • 6/23/2016  to 6/25/2016. Standish Summer Spectacular 2016, Save the date info from the Town of Standish here. Not WLA sponsored.
  • 5/20/2016. WLA Review of Recent Risk Assessment report. Join us at the Standish Town Hall at either 5:00 pm or 7:00 pm to learn about and discuss longer terms plans for the lake.

  • 6/25 to 6/27: Standish Summer Spectacular 2015, with fireworks off Kiwanis Beach Friday June 26. Not WLA sponsored.
  • 4/1/2015 (approximate): The Dam will be closed about April 1 or around ice-out if that is earlier. The water level will then rise approximately 30 inches over the following two weeks.
  • 2/21/2015: Standish Ice Fishing Derby. Register at Kiwanis Beach starting at 5:00 am. Derby runs from 7:00 am to 3:00 pm. More info here: Standish Ice Fishing Derby website. Not WLA sponsored.

    Regarding two recent events on the lake. I for one do not like to look out at our beautiful lake and see lines of buoys used for water skiing and boats speeding too close to the precious loons. I would ask that those
    sponsoring and participating in these events try to respect the interests of other property owners and the local wildlife.
