2022 Events

  • 9/9/2022 to 9/11/2022. South Shore Outboard Powerboat Races in conjunction with American Powerboat Association Races. Kiwanis Beach. Friday test runs. Saturday 12:00 – 5:00 pm. Sunday 11:00 am to 4:00 pm. Questions contact Kiwanis at standishkiwanis@gmail.com. Not a WLA sponsored event.
  • 8/27/2022. Annual Watchic Lake Tie-Up. On the afternoon of August 27 at about 3:00 pm, keep eye out for a “tie-up” on the lake. Bring out your boat, kayak, canoe or giant unicorn and hang out with others on the lake. This is a WLA sponsored event.
  • 8/24/2022. Social Event. Join us Wednesday August 24 at 5:30 pm for our second gathering with Watchic Lake friends and neighbors at the newly reopened Outpost Bar and Grill (380 PequawketTrail). Cash bar. This is a WLA sponsored event.
  • 8/21/2022. The Ice Cream Boat returns the afternoon of Sunday August 21. Listen for that lovely jingle! This is a WLA sponsored event.
  • 8/20/2022 (morning).  WLA Plant Inventory Day. Paddle with a Certified Invasive Plant Patroller to help gather and evaluate native and invasive plants in the lake. Learn more by contacting Steve Lajoie at steve03229@aol.com
  • 8/13/2022. Camp Garden Tours and Shoreline Vegetation Workshops. Learn how properties around the lake have helped reduce runoff by proper plantings along the shoreline. Plus a chance to see other camps from the shore (not from the lake). Fill in our Contact Us page to sign up. WLA sponsored event.
  • 8/5/2022 to 8/6/2022. Town of Standish Summer Spectacular 2022, includes Party in the Park with fireworks, food, games and music on Friday evening, and full set of family friendly events all day Saturday. More info from Standish Rec here.
  • 7/20/2022. Social Event. Join us Wednesday July 20 at 5:30 pm for an informal gathering with Watchic Lake friends and neighbors at the newly reopened Outpost Bar and Grill (380 PequawketTrail). Cash bar. This is a WLA sponsored event.
  • 7/16/2022. The Annual Audubon Loon Count. Volunteers gather at 6:45 am to count the loons on the lake. If you have an hour to spare and would like to help with the count and meet your neighbors, please contact Kim Lajoie at kimj03229@aol.com..
  • 7/9/2022. Watchic Lake Association Annual Meeting. The meeting will be held on Saturday July 9 at 9:00 am to about 11:00 am. At the Standish Municipal Center (Town Hall). More details to follow. This is a WLA sponsored event.
  • April to July 2022. Boating Safety Courses.  The WLA encourages you to attend one of the Maine State Approved Boating Courses. More information and how to register for these events can be found here: State of Maine Boating Safety Course.

  • 6/19/2021. Boating Safety Course.  The WLA and the Town of Standish have partnered with the Maine Inland Fisheries and Wildlife to bring the Maine State Approved Boating Course to Standish. 2020 Events

  • August to November 2020. Route 113 Culvert Replacement and Road Closure.  Maine DOT contractors will remove the existing concrete structure on Rt 113 near Watchic Rd 19 and replace it with a new precast concrete wildlife-friendly culvert box. This section of Rt 113 will be closed/restricted during this period. More here.
  • 7/11/2020. Watchic Lake Association Annual Meeting. The meeting will be held on Saturday July 11, 2020 at 10:00 am. Due to Covid-19 restrictions in the state of Maine, and for the safety of our members, the WLA will hold its annual meeting online.  More details will be provided here.

Then please join us for a family friendly presentation and discussion led by Lee Attix, Director of the Loon Conservancy. Location Standish Town Hall, 175 Northeast Rd Standish, ME 04084. Fireworks to be held at Standish Memorial Park on Friday June 2 and can be seen from the lake. Not WLA sponsored.
