Successful State of Maine Boating Safety Course

The Watchic Lake Association sponsored a State of Maine Boat Safety Class was successfully held on June 19, 2021.

18 people attended and learned proper operation and safety (Boating Handling/Equipment/Trailering), Boating Laws, Emergencies & Survival, Self Help First Aid and Environmental/Ethics.

Participants passed a test at the end of the class and received a State of Maine Inland Fisheries & Wildlife certificate for their successful completion of the Basic Boating Course (approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators). Many states require this certificate when operating a watercraft.

We are hopeful to be able to offer this class again in the future.

As a reminder, Persons 16 years of age and under 18 years of age MAY NOT operate a personal watercraft unless they possess on their person, identification showing proof of age and proof of successful completion of a NASBLA approved boating safety course unless they are accompanied by a person 18 years of age or older who physically occupies the personal watercraft.

Thank You!

We would like to thank the State of Maine Inland Fisheries and Wildlife for providing the instruction and the materials; the Town of Standish Parks and Recreation Department for posting the class on their website and for registering class participants; and the Kiwanis Club of Standish for allowing us to hold the class there.
