🦩Saturday, July 18, was the Maine Audubon Loon Count. Over 400 lakes across the state (and more across the country too!) count loons from 7-7:30 on the same day to provide a “snapshot” of the state’s loon population. At Watchic, our official count was 5 adults and 1 chick. Volunteer observers noted that there had been 2 chicks in the previous week, so it seems that 1 chick didn’t make it.
