The WLA is hosting a Buffer Planting and Yellow Iris Removal Workshop on June 13, 11 am at Watchic Rd 5A.
Plants are from Whaleback Nursery in Limington, who will be on hand to provide education on the importance of planting native species along the shoreline and how to plant and care for buffer plant communities. The WLA will provide native plant buffer bundles to everyone who attends.
- What: Buffer Plants (free plants!) and Yellow Iris Removal
- Where: Watchic Rd 5A
- When: June 13 @ 11 am
As part of this workshop, WLA volunteers will demonstrate removal of the invasive Yellow Iris that is growing along the Watchic Lake shoreline. The WLA will lead a big push to remove these plants in 2026. Landowner support and assistance with removal is essential to eradicate this species over the next few years.
For planning purposes, RSVP by June 1st to watchiclakeassociation@gmail.com or text David Burnell at 603-630-4297.
