Watchic Lake Association

Donations

Thank you for your support!

Your donation helps the WLA to provide a myriad of services to help improve the lake, including:

  • Sample lake water on a semi-annual basis, and submit samples to the Maine Volunteer Monitoring Program for analysis.
  • Monitor the lake and educate users of the lake on how to best keep out invasive species such as Eurasian milfoil.
  • Monitor water level, and adjust the dam as needed.
  • Maintain the dam and ensure dam safety
  • Work with the Town of Standish, the Maine DEP, property owners and others to address wider Watchic Lake watershed issues (for example managing a significant project to remediate runoff into the lake).

The March 2020 “Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security Act” or the “CARES Act” stimulus bill includes changes related to charitable giving and may provide some tax benefits related to your donations to the WLA starting in 2020. For example, if you do not itemize your deductions, you can deduct up to $300 donated to qualified charitable organizations (excluding donor advised charitable funds) from your income, thus reducing your adjusted gross income by that same amount. More can be found in section 2204 of the CARES Act and should be reviewed with your tax attorney.

The WLA is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, and your donations are tax deductible to the full amount allowed by law. Our address is Watchic Lake Association, P.O. Box 319, Standish ME  04084.
