The annual Audubon Loon count was also held Saturday, July 15. We had a successful loon count early in the morning. Three new volunteers joined alongside eight seasoned counters. There were quite a few loon sightings. We recorded three loon pairs, four babies and one lone adult loon. Dam Closed April 5 2023. To address seasonal changes, the dam gate is closed to raise the water level shortly after ice-out, and then opened to lower the water level in early November. 2023 ice out is almost complete. The dam was closed on April 5. The water level will gradually increase by about 18 inches over a two week period following the closing of the gate.
