WLA board members and local volunteers, recently installed buoy’s around the Dam entrance. These buoys are installed in the spring and removed each fall. Lake users and the WLA board of directors have been concerned about safety at the dam entrance for years. The area around the dam has been used by locals not knowing the risk of slipping into the sluice-way  for years. The board decided to address this risk with buoy’s and signs.

Though cold and snowy, the sunsets can still warm you, and there is plenty of action on the lake with snowmobiling, ice fishing and more. As nice as ice fishing sounds,

BRI Loon Monitoring To Include Watchic Lake

During summer and fall of 2014, Biodiversity Research Institute (BRI), expanded their loon monitoring efforts to include Watchic Lake. With the help of local residents granting lake access, BRI captured and banded three adults on the lake, after they had chicks. Each adult has a unique set of color bands, which will enable BRI researchers to determine if the same adults return in future years, and if the same mates remain together. They also took blood samples from the loons, which
